rockstar Mediassembly is looking for a web design and development rock star to join our team.  We’re looking for a creative and talented visual designer with strong technical chops – able to create inspired designs and bring them to life with dynamic HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX techniques.  Our expectations are high – there aren’t many people who are both inspired designers and master presentation layer developers.  But if that describes you, let’s talk!

This is an opportunity to join an exciting startup as part of the founding team.    We’re a virtual company (no physical office) based in Dallas, TX.  You’ll primarily work remotely, with occasional face-to-face meetings.  So you need to be independent, self motivated, and responsible – able to be highly productive with little direction.  As we grow, we do expect to have a physical office.  So Dallas area candidates are preferred, but we’ll be flexible for the right person.

If interested, please send your resume and portfolio (examples of past projects) to troy.sabin@mediassembly.com.

Introducing Mediassembly

Published on 17 September 2009 by Troy Sabin in Announcements

It is time we properly introduced ourselves.  Mediassembly is a new software company, providing Internet software as a service (SaaS) for community and word of mouth marketing.   We help marketers:

  • Assemble Advocate Communities
Assemble distributed communities of brand enthusiasts and advocates.
  • Inspire Participation & Word of Mouth
Motivate word of mouth on social networks, blogs, discussion forums and other social media services that advocates and potential customers are already using.
  • Spread the Word
Maximize word of mouth reach and influence by syndicating user generated content through brand web sites, email newsletters, advertising placements, and more.

Mediassembly is fundamentally different than other community platforms.  While traditional platforms focus on facilitating discussion on a specific site, our focus is inspiring and amplifying word of mouth across the entire social web.  The real value of word-of-mouth comes from influencing others outside the loyal customer base.  Brands need passionate customers and advocates to influence friends, family, peers and colleagues wherever they are having conversations.  These conversations are scattered across blogs and microblogs, discussion forums, social networks and other social mediums.  That is where advocates should be engaged and brand discussion inspired.  Confining discussion to a specific site, as traditional community platforms do, creates a barrier to entry/participation and inhibits word of mouth reach and influence.  Mediassembly eliminates these barriers and maximizes the ROI from marketing communities.

Our product is targeted at marketers – not IT departments.  (That means it is easy to use and integrate without requiring IT support.) It will be priced to accommodate even the most conservative budgets with simple (no contract) monthly subscription plans.

We’ll be providing details on features, subscription plans, and pricing in the coming weeks.  If you just can’t wait to get to it, sign up for the beta program.  Otherwise, subscribe to this blog or follow us on Twitter and we’ll keep you updated on our progress and official launch date.

The ROI on Social Media Marketing

Between January and February of 2009 The Aberdeen Group examined social media usage, experiences, and intentions of over 275 diverse enterprises.  They published their findings in a free (with registration) report, entitled:

The ROI on Social Media Marketing

Why it Pays to Drive Word of Mouth

The goal was to create a roadmap to help companies leverage social media and word of mouth to drive overall marketing improvement.   The study classifies participants into three groups, based on their business/marketing practices with respect to social media:

  • Best-In-Class: Practices that are best being employed and are significantly superior to Industry Average, and result in top industry performance.
  • Industry Average: Practices that represent the average or norm, and result in average industry performance.
  • Laggards: Practices that are significantly behind the average of the industry, and result in below average performance.

There are clear and remarkable performance improvements achieved by implementing best-in-class practices.

The report offers required actions to move from Laggard and Industry Average status to Best-In-Class and provides several case studies.  This report is a must-read for any company questioning whether they should employ social media in their marketing initiatives, looking for help justifying social media marketing budget allocation, or hoping to improve their performance by identifying and executing best practices.
